Thousands of players have competed over the course of the 2015 Capcom Pro Tour season, but only 32 players have earned a qualifying spot to Capcom Cup 2015. These players, some of the best in the world, faced off against one another to get a piece of the $250,000 prize pool. Whomever took 1st place would claim $120,000 and the title of Ultra Street Fighter 4 World Champion.
It was a thrilling event from start to finish, with many surprises and upsets. In the end, however, the Grand Finals was between two titans from Japan. Kazunoko is the world’s best Yun player and has played tremendously all season. MCZ|Daigo “The Beast” Umehara is a legend and is has the most wins in all of Street Fighter 4’s lifespan. Kazunoko got to Grand Finals through Winners Bracket. Daigo got there through the Losers Bracket, having been sent there by Kazunoko himself earlier.
Kazunoko wins Grand Finals, is new Street Fighter 4 World Champion and wins $120,000 Prize!
MCZ|Daigo Umehara was beaten pretty convincingly earlier by Kazunoko, but that was not the case in Grand Finals. Daigo tied the set up 2-2 and was 1 round away from resetting the bracket but Kazunoko took the victory! It was an amazing year for Kazunoko and he has won the biggest Street Fighter event ever, taking home the first 6 figure prize for fighting games.
Congratulations to Kazunoko for the victory and to all of the players who have fought so hard and made this the best year for Street Fighter ever!
